Tennis Begins Road Trip With Easy Victory
DALLAS, Texas - The 36th-ranked University of Tampa tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Dallas Baptist in the first of a pair of matches on the road. The Spartans improve to 8-4 with the victory while DBU falls to 2-2.
All three doubles teams recorded victories as the number-one team of Jessica Faber and Erin Heeder set the tone with an 8-1 triumph. Claire Darling and Allison Beck were victorious at the two spot with Caitlin Scudder and Kourtney Stark won at number three. The two and three teams both registered 8-3 victories.
Tampa began singles play with quick victories from the number one and two positions as Erin Heeder won 6-0, 6-1 and Jessica Faber notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory. The Spartans dropped the number-three position as Kourtney Stark, Caitlin Scudder and Allison Beck won at the four, five and six spots.
The Spartans conclude their trip to Texas with a 3:30 p.m. meeting with #37 Midwestern State on Wednesday. The match will also be played in Dallas on a neutral site.
