Tars Battle Past UT in SSC Match
Senior Kristen Mee defeated her nationally-ranked opponent at the number one singles position.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (6-9, 0-7 SSC) tennis team was defeated 7-2 by No. 34 Rollins College on Tuesday at the Naimoli & Young Family Complex.
Tampa took a pair of singles matches from its Sunshine State Conference foe. Kristen Mee won at number-one singles, defeating No. 33 Shannon Etten by scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).
Freshman Maddie Stephens came away with a victory in the number-three singles contest. After winning the first set 6-4, Rollins' Savanna Fuller forced a tiebreak with a 6-3 second set win. Stephens would clinch the victory by a 10-8 tally in the tiebreaker.
The Spartans travel to Eckerd on Thursday at 3 p.m., and return home for their final match of 2016 on Sunday against Embry-Riddle. The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
