Tampa Athletics Set To Host Women’s Walk
TAMPA, Fla. - In supporting women's athletics and the fight against breast cancer, The University of Tampa athletic department is looking for participants for the first annual University of Tampa Women's Walk for Athletics.
The walk, which is scheduled for April 17, will begin with an 8:30 a.m. check-in that will also include coffee and a Wellness Expo. Following a 9:30 a.m. welcome, the walk will begin at 10 a.m. at UT's Martinez Center. Student-athletes from Tampa will lead participants on a 30-minute walk through the historic University of Tampa campus.
Individuals may register with a minimum $25 donation. Those will still be eligible for a number of prizes. Those who collect $25 or more will be entered into the general drawing for door prizes. A collection of $100 or more will make individuals eligible for special grand prize drawings.
Walkers may also be organized into teams by team captains. It is the responsibility of the team captain to recruit as many people as possible for their team. Each team member then obtains donations to be applied to their team's total as donation sheets will be provided to each walker by the team captain.
A portion of the dollars raised by your active support will go towards the fight against breast cancer and scholarships for female student-athletes at The University of Tampa. This much needed financial assistance is instrumental in helping our athletes earn their education while they compete in nine women's varsity sports.
UT women athletes excel in the classroom as well as on the playing field. Your participation in the walk will continue to allow Tampa female student-athletes the ability to build strong academic records, while breaking athletic ones as well. The fight against breast cancer is a continuous battle, one which is greatly in need of your help.
