Tampa Maintains Top 10 Ranking In Directors’ Cup
CLEVELAND - The University of Tampa is currently eighth in the Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Top 25 following the completion of the winter season. The Spartans were previously ranked sixth after the fall season.
With 373.00 points, UT earned 50 points from women's basketball, 64.5 for women's swimming and 55.5 for men's swimming in the winter. The Spartans tallied 203.00 points in the fall and 170.00 in the spring.
Grand Valley State is the overall leader with 710.50 points as Adam State and Colorado School of Mines follow with 463.00 and 418.00 points respectively.
Tampa is first among all Sunshine State Conference schools as Rollins is No. 55. Florida Southern (64), Barry (105), Saint Leo (114), Lynn (121), Nova Southeastern (144), Eckerd (147) and Florida Tech (147) round out the SSC schools in the standings.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women's and seven men's.
The final Division II standings will be released Wednesday, December 23.
