Tampa Concludes Fall Season Fourth In Director’s Cup Standings
CLEVELAND - After another strong fall season, The University of Tampa finished the fall season at No. 4 in the Learfield Sports NCAA Division II Director's Cup standings following all seven fall championships.
Grand Valley State currently sits atop the Directors' Cup standings with 411 points. Shippensburg (264) and Central Missouri (259) hold a slight edge over UT's 244 points as Chico State rounds out the top-five with 220 points.
UT earned points in women's cross country (45), women's soccer (64), men's soccer (25) and volleyball (90).
All seven fall NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: women's soccer - Grand Valley State; men's soccer - Northern Kentucky; women's volleyball - Concordia, Minn.; women's field hockey - Massachusetts Lowell; men's cross country - Adams State; women's cross country - Grand Valley State; football - Minnesota Duluth.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women's and seven men's.
The first Division II winter standings will be released Thursday, March 17, 2011.
