UT Athletics Continues To Excel In Social Media Efforts
TAMPA, Fla. - In addition to its official athletics Web site, www.tampaspartans.com, The University of Tampa athletic department also offers other methods of receiving news and information on its top-notch programs.
UT currently operates pages through social networking giants Facebook and Twitter, reaching thousands of followers through the outlets. Fans are encouraged to follow the Spartans through www.twitter.com/utspartans and www.facebook.com/tampaspartans.
The department also has a YouTube channel with several highlights and compilations from Spartan athletic events and press conferences. A direct link is offered through the official Web site as the full channel may be reached through www.youtube.com/utathletics.
In addition to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, UT athletics has implemented QR Codes in its gameday materials and offers several fan favorites on its Web site. Photo galleries, live stats and webcasts are another easy way for fans to follow the Spartans as the site also includes a mailing list for all press releases along with a calendar of athletic events. Each team schedule also offers a downloadable file that may be directly imported to any Outlook calendar.
A text messaging service, blAst, is also a free service offered to fans. This service sends a text message alert to fans following all UT events as fans are allowed to customize this offering to meet their interests. Fans may sign up for blAst through http://www.tampaspartans.com/blast.asp.
