Tampa To Host Lynn In SSC Home Opener
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men and
women's basketball teams are set to host Lynn University in their
SSC home opener.
The No. 10 women's team enter the contest at a record of 7-3
on the season, while being 1-0 in conference play. The Fighting
Knights enter the game with a record of 5-4, and 0-1 in conference
play. Last time out LU defeated Palm Beach Atlantic, while UT
dropped a game to Molloy.
Junior Juliana Cavallaro leads the way for UT as she is
averaging 16.3 points per game along with 6.6 rebounds. Junior
Ellen Nurmi and Senior Aisha Rodney are also averaging double
figures with 11.0 and 10.5 points per game respectively. Junior
Taylor McVey leads the team in rebounding, as she is averaging 7.0
rebounds. Tampa is 34-8 all-time against Lynn, with UT winning the
last matchup 69-44.
The men's team enters the contest at 6-4, and are currently on
a three game winning streak. The Spartans are 0-1 in conference
play. The Fightning Knights enter the game with a 7-2 record, and
are 1-0 in conference play. Last time out Lynn defeated Nyack,
while Tampa defeated Cedarville in the Tampa Classic.
Senior Eugene McCrory leads the way, as he is averaging a
double-double with 18.4 point per game and 10.1 rebounds per game.
Senior Jordan Davis, who is coming off a triple-double, is
averaging 15.0 points, 7.6 assists, and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Austin Rettig is also in double figures as he is
recording 14.1 points per game. Lynn leads the all-time series
20-17, with Tampa winning the last matchup 66-60
