Spartans to Welcome Sailfish in Non-Conference Matchup
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men and women's basketball teams are set to host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday.
The women's team enters the contest at a record of 9-5 on the season, while being 3-2 in conference play. The Sailfish enter the game with a record of 5-13, Last time out PBA dropped a close 71-75 game to Rollins in OT, while UT defeated Saint Leo 62-57 with a great second half effort.
Junior Juliana Cavallaro leads the way for the Spartans as she is averaging 15.2 points per game, along with 5.7 rebounds. Senior Aisha Rodney and Junior Ellen Nurmi are also averaging double figures with 11.4 an 10.4 points per game respectively. Junior Taylor McVey leads the team in rebounding, as she is averaging 7.0 rebounds. Tampa is 16-1 all-time against Palm Beach Atlantic, with UT winning the last matchup 52-31 on the road at Palm Beach Atlantic.
The men's team enters the contest at 9-5, and are currently on a three game winning streak. UT is 3-2 in conference play. Palm Beach Atlantic enters the game with a 5-8 record. Last time out the Sailfish dropped a 60-63 contest to Lynn on the road, while Tampa knocked off SSC rival Saint Leo by a score of 63-48. Senior Jordan Davis led the way for Spartans over the Lions, cashing in 19 points as points, along with 11 rebounds.
Senior Eugene McCrory leads the way, as he is averaging a double-double with 17.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Senior Jordan Davis, is averaging 15.5 points, 7 assists, and 7.1 rebounds per game. Rettig is also in double figures as he is recording 14.9 points per game. The Spartans lead the all-time series 18-1, with Tampa winning the last matchup 62-58.
