J.D. Osborne Named SSC Baseball Player of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa baseball senior J.D. Osborne has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the period spanning February 13-February 19, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Osborne led the No. 2 Spartans in a series win (2-1) over the No. 23 University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles. The Whitby, Ontario native hit .615 for UT in the three-game set. Osborne recorded eight hits, with six runs scored and nine runs batted in. He also added a double and three home runs in the series. The third baseman slugged at a 1.358 percentage and had an on-base percentage of .643. Osbourne's top game was the last in the series. He wend 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, three RBI, a homerun, and a walk.
Osborne helped the Spartans improve their record to 7-2. The team will be back in action this Thursday as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies. The game Thursday is set to being at 1:05.
