The Tampa Rundown
A look at the athletic events happening this week.
ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week men's lacrosse defeated the No. 20 Rollins College Tars by a final score of 13-12. Beach volleyball swept Saint Leo in their last home dual of the year, 5-0. The No. 7 ranked baseball team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 2-1 in the weekend series. Finally, the No. 5 ranked women's lacrosse team also defeated the Sailfish over the weekend by a final score of 23-5 on senior day.
This Week's Events:
Baseball:
This weekend, baseball is set to travel to Dahlonega, Georgia to take on the University of North Georgia Nighthawks in the weekend series. Thursday and Friday night, the games are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m., while on Saturday, the game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Beach Volleyball:
The sandy Spartans will travel to Tavares, Florida to compete at the AVCA Small College Championships April 19th-21st.
Golf:
Today and tomorrow both the men's and women's golf teams are competing at the Sunshine State Conference Championships at Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Florida.
Men's Lacrosse:
Men's lacrosse will compete in their final regular season game of the year on Saturday against Palm Beach Atlantic, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The game will take place at the PBA Soccer and Lacrosse Field at 1:00 p.m.
Rowing:
This weekend the rowing team will compete at the SIRA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Softball:
After a week of rest, the Spartans softball team will return to the field, hosting the PBA Sailfish Thursday and Friday. Thursday the Spartans and Sailfish will compete at 7:00 p.m. Then on Friday, UT will host the doubleheader at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Tennis:
On Wednesday, the women's tennis team will host No. 43 Rollins College in their last regular season match of the 2019 season. First serve will take place at 3:00 p.m.
Track:
Both the men's and women's track teams are set to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational and the South Florida Collegiate Meet. The team will split up, sending runners from each team to each race.
Women's Lacrosse:
Women's lacrosse will wrap up regular season competition with their final two SSC matchups against the Saint Leo Lions and the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Wednesday and Saturday respectively. On Wednesday, the Spartans will host the Lions at Naimoli Family Field starting at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, UT will compete against the Eagles at ERAU in Daytona Beach, Florida. This game is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
