Bio

Eric Centner is in his first year as a compliance assistant at the University of Tampa, serving under compliance director Rob Fiedler.

Centner previously served as a legal extern for the  Syracuse Office Of The Corporation Counsel. In this position, he drafted city contracts and legislation, assisted in research and application of municipality rules and regulations in trial litigation and communicated legal correspondence to attorneys, legislators, and city clients.

In a position with the Utica Office Of The Corporation Counsel, he acted as a research assistant for the Assistant Corporation Counsel for cases concerning municipality liability. He filed motions and legal memoranda, attended depositions, client meetings, and interoffice meetings concerning daily litigation schedules.

He has also worked as a law clerk with The Law Office of John W. Sharon and  Wegerski Law Firm.  He was responsible for writing motions, complaints, and answers and attending depositions of witnesses. He attended criminal court proceedings, new home purchases, and foreclosures and practiced legal research and converted knowledge into practiced legal writing.

He has also contributed to the publication John Wolohan & Eric Centner, Assault Case Triggers Court Arguments Over Arbitration Clause in Athletic Business (Jan.-Feb. 2017).

A 2014 graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport, Centner received a bachelor of science in journalism and broadcasting, minoring in film studies. During his undergraduate studies, Centner worked at Brockport Television (BTV) as an associate producer. He was also a reporter and anchor for The Eagle’s Nest, part of SUNY Brockport’s Sports News Program. He was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society at SUNY Brockport and Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society, SUNY Brockport Chapter.

He went on to receive a juris doctor from Syracuse University in 2017. While at Syracuse, he was an Entertainment and Sports Law Society Board Member and Vice President (2016-17), Public Relations Director (2015-16) and Communications Law & Policy General Member (2014-15). He also received a Certificate in Entertainment & Sports Law.
