HOW IT HAPPENED:

v.s. Southeastern Louisiana: After travelling to Myrtle Beach on Thursday, the Spartans kicked off the weekend with an early morning Friday match against Southeastern Louisiana. Other than a flip between the 3s and 4s, Keely Hamilton and Madison Brunick now in the 3s and Hailey and Nevaeh Wolfe in the 4s, the Spartans lineup remained the same from last weekend. The 3s-5s pairings were dominated by Tampa, who allowed just 12.5 points per set across six sets. The Lions would salvage some pride by taking the 2s matchup but only after the Tampa 1s had taken a competitive matchup.

v.s. Coastal Carolina: In their afternoon duel the Spartans played visitors to the hosts, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. In the first match to finish, the 5s, it was Coastal that came out on top claiming a two-set victory. The 4s came out strong but dropped the second set and were edged out in the third giving the Chanticleers a two-win advantage. The Wolfe twins, now in the 3s pairing, responded with a two-set victory of their own to bring the duel back to within one, but Coastal took both the 1s and 2s sealing the match.

v.s. College of Charleston: The first leg of the Spartans Saturday back-to-back came against the Cougars from the College of Charleston. In their first meeting of the season, Charleston claimed a 4-1 victory over Tampa in match week number 1. This time however, it was the Spartans who walked away victorious. Although it took an extended second set Kalli Cors and Alivia Horn out the Spartans on the board first with a 2-0 sweep in the 5s. The 4s, now occupied by Hamilton and Brunick, came back from a 1-0 set deficit to win in three sets and put the Spartans in the driver's seat with a 2-0 lead in the duel. The Wolfe Pack, who finished the weekend 4-0, put the finishing touches on the duel in a dominant win where they allowed only nine points in the second set of a two-set sweep. Charleston claimed the 1s and 2s but it was too little to late as Tampa had already secured the victory in the duel.

v.s. Erskine: In the second leg of the back-to-back the Spartans faced the Erskine Flying Fleet for the third time this year. Just as they had the previous two matches, the Spartans walked away with a convincing victory. Erskine were able to capture the 2s, but not before Tampa's 3s-5s had already sealed the duel with three convincing victories in which they allowed just under 14 points per set. In what only added to the Spartans confidence, the 1s claimed a two-set victory allowing only 22 combined points.
