UT’s Obrochta and Packrall Sweep Baseball Player of the Week Awards
WINTER PARK, Fla. - Tampa's Connor Obrochta and Preston Packrall have been selected Sunshine State Conference Baseball Players of the Week presented by VALIC.
Obrochta, a senior center fielder from St. Petersburg, Fla., led the No. 1 Spartans to a 3-0 week, including wins over No. 5 Mount Olive (W, 12-9) and No. 14 USC-Aiken (W, 8-4). The St. Petersburg, Fla., native finished the week with a .545 (6-for-11) batting average and a .818 slugging percentage with three doubles. He totaled six runs and five RBIs. Against No. 5 Mount Olive, Obrochta went 4-for-6 with a double, RBI and three runs scored. Against No. 14 USC-Aiken, he went 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing double and scored twice. Against Shepherd (W, 7-2), Obrochta went 1-for-2 with an RBI double and scored a run.
Packrall, a senior pitcher from Tampa, Fla., pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball after coming in as relief in the second inning against No. 14 USC-Aiken. Packrall allowed no hits, struck out three batters and walked just two. He pitched four-straight frames without a base runner. Packrall earned the win for the No. 1 Spartans. Tampa is now 6-0 on the season with two victories over Top-14 teams.
