PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team (8-1) was shutout by the University of West Florida Argonauts (3-4) in the finale of a three-game set Sunday, losing by a final score of 1-0.
The Spartans couldn't find the scoreboard against West Florida right-hander Walker O'Connor, who pitched eight frames with eight strikeouts and five hits allowed.
Brad Hencke started and allowed the Argonauts' only run on seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts over a season-high seven innings pitched.
At the plate, Kevin Santa went 1-for-4 with a single, giving him hits in all nine games played this season. He finished the series hitting .538 (7-for-13) with a run scored, two doubles and three RBI.
Tampa is back in action Friday, February 26th for their first matchup with a Sunshine State Conference opponent, as they'll take on Barry University in a three-game set played over two days. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM eastern time.
