Piatt Earns SSC Player of the Week
Piatt hit .818 in four games this past weekend
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced its weekly Player of the Week Awards. The University of Tampa's Matt Piatt has been named the SSC Baseball Player of the Week
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 8 - 14, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
Piatt had an outstanding weekend, as Tampa played Seton Hill for one game and Albany State for a three-game series.
In the ball game against Seton Hill, Piatt went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Piatt would also draw two walks and came around to score two runs.
On Friday night in a regional contest against Albany State, he went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
On a Saturday double header, Piatt went 4-for-5 in game one, hitting a home run and driving in three runs. In the second game, he went 1-for-1 with three walks. His lone hit was a home run, as he drove in two RBI and scored three runs.
For the week, he went 9-for-11 hitting two home runs, scoring eight runs and driving in 10 runs. He would also draw five walks in the four games.
Piatt and the remainder of the Spartans will be in action again tomorrow as they welcome in the Grand Valley State University Lakers at 6 p.m.
