#1 Tampa Continues Win Streak With Game One Win Over Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Tampa Spartans take game one of the three-game series against Carson-Newman.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Final: #1 Tampa 14, Carson-Newman 3

Records: Tampa Spartans (5-2), Carson-Newman Eagles (7-3)

Location: Silver Diamond Stadium | Jefferson City, Tenn.

All-time Series: Tampa now leads the all-time series with a record of 4-0 following tonight's win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

· Early in the game Tampa played small-ball as they scored on a passed ball and a Dan Sullivan single. || Top 1 || 2-0 UT

· After being hit by a pitch, Drew Ehrhard rounded the bases to score on a John Pichman sacrifice fly. Next pitch, Nick Derr singled up the middle driving in Luke McDonald. The Spartans continued the hit parade as Sullivan doubled to left scoring Derr. Sullivan would score later in the inning off a Mikey Navarrete double down the right field line. || Top 3 || 4-0 UT

· Sullivan would cross the plate for his second time of the day on a Navarette sacrifice fly. || Top 5 || 7-0 UT

· Tampa ran away with the game in the seventh inning as Sullivan would continue his hot-hitting day, as he lifted a three-run homerun to right field driving in Derr and Pichman, who both singled. Christian Flint showcased his speed as he tripled to right field scoring Navarette. Later in the inning, McDonald would pick up his second hit of the day on a double to center that drove in Ehrhard. || Top 7 || 13-0 UT

INSIDE THE STATS:

· Sullivan would drive in 3 RBIs and hit his first homerun of the season.

· Ehrhard would score three runs.

· Derr went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
