TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team suffered a 73-64 loss to Nova Southeastern in the regular season finale. The Spartans drop to 15-13 on the season and finish Sunshine State Conference play with a 7-9 record. Nova southeastern improves to 13-14 on the season and 8-8 in league play.
Nova Southeastern took a 30-28 lead to the half and started the second half on an 8-2 run. The Sharks never trailed for the remainder of the contest, though Tampa cut the game to a three point margin with 1:14 remaining.
Four Spartans scored in double figures, with Chris Evans leading the way with 17 points. Evans connected on 4-8 three-pointers and also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Chris King added 14 points while Jeremy Black and Jeffrey Moore turned in 11 apiece. The Sharks finished the game with a 56.8 percent field goal percentage as UT was just 36.5.
The Spartans return to action in Boca Raton at the Sunshine State Conference tournament as they will next play in the first round on Friday, March 2.
