TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team fell 90-82 to West Virginia State following a pair of quick starts by the Yellow Jackets in each half. The Spartans drop to 6-3 on the season.
West Virginia State got out to a quick 25-12 lead, which was erased by Tampa as the Spartans carried a four-point advantage to the half. The Yellow Jackets went on a 22-8 run to start the second half and extended the advantage to 18 at the 6:11 mark.
Jeremy Black turned in a career performance, scoring a career high 22 points with 14 rebounds, both team highs. Chris King added 15 points and Johnathan Ball had 12. Jeff James came off the bench in his UT debut to score 14 points on 6-7 shooting from the free-throw line.
