Tampa, Fla. - A career high 35 points by Chris Evans was not enough to life the University of Tampa men's basketball team over West Georgia as the Spartans fell 75-72 in double overtime. Tampa now stands at 2-1 on the season.
In a game that featured 12 lead changes, Tampa led by as many as 13 in the first half with West Georgia regaining the momentum in the second half where the Owls led by as many as eight points. In the second overtime, West Georgia took a four-point lead at 2:59 as Tampa was unable to hit the last-second three-pointer to send the game to a third overtime period.
Evans enjoyed a stellar first half, scoring 18 points on 7-7 shooting. He finished the game with a career-high 35 points to go with 10 rebounds and five blocked shots en route to becoming the UT Tip-Off Classic MVP. Chris King also turned in a double figure performance, scoring 18 points. Jeremy Black also had 12 points and seven rebounds.
