Jeremy Black Dominates Second Half to Sink Rollins
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team used a 22 point, 12 rebounds second half performance by Jeremy Black to defeat #14 Rollins College by a score of 83-68. The Spartans are now 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the SSC while the Tars drop to 16-4 and 5-4 in league play.
Rollins ended the first half on a roll as it turned a 26-21 Tampa lead at 4:20 to a 32-26 halftime lead as it outscored UT by a score of 15-0 in the final four minutes of the first half.
The Spartans outscored Rollins 57-36 in the second half, fueled by Black's effort. He finished with a team high 29 points and 20 rebounds, which marked a team high in boards. Black went 8-12 from the field and was also 11-13 from the free throw line.
Johnathan Ball added 17 points for the Spartans while Chris King and Chris Evans also scored in double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively.
Mounir Benzegala led Tampa with a team high four assists, while playing just eight minutes in the first half. Ball paced UT with four steals.
The Spartans return to action as they travel to Fort Lauderdale to play Nova Southeastern at 7:30 p.m.
