#11 Florida Southern Defeats Tampa
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team dropped its final Sunshine State Conference game of the season, losing 85-60 to visiting Florida Southern on Wednesday night. With the loss, Tampa falls to 10-15 and 4-12 in conference play while the Mocs improve to 23-3 and 11-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
FSC led throughout the entire game, including holding a 37-25 advantage at the halftime break. The Mocs shot 53.6 percent from the field in the second half to maintain a comfortable lead.
Callum Townsend led Tampa with eight points off the bench as Anthony LaBruno and Rudy Jean each added seven. Townsend also led the Spartans with seven rebounds as Rashad Callaway held team honors with four assists.
The game also marked senior night for UT as two players were honored before the game. LaBruno and Mounir Benzegala are the lone seniors on the UT squad.
Tampa concludes its regular season on Saturday at 4 p.m. as it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic University. Live stats will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
