Rashad Callaway Named To Daktronics All-South Regional Team
CARROLLTON, GA - University of Tampa men's basketball standout, Rashad Callaway picked up a spot on the 2010-11 Daktronics second team all-South Region as announced Wednesday evening. Made up of 11 student athletes among the South Region, Callaway marked the only Spartan to gain such honors.
Also a first team all-Sunshine State Conference performer, the award marks the third time that Callaway has appeared on the Daktronics all-South Regional team.
Florida Tech forward, Justin Sedlak was the recipient of the 2010-11 South Region Player of the Year after receiving the highest point total in regional voting by sports information directors from throughout the region.
Leading his team to an overall record of 22-7, the six foot guard closed out his senior year marking the best start in program history to begin the year 16-0. The Bayonne, N.J. native led the team in scoring producing a spectacular 19.1 points per game while also dishing out a team-high and SSC-best of 166 assists on the year.
A forced to be reckoned with on the defensive end as well, Callaway picked up a team-high 58 steals in the season while attempting a total of 207 free throws and converting 82.1 of them to finish out the year.
