Palm Beach Atlantic Tops Tampa in Non-Conference Affair
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (4-13) men's basketball team dropped its sixth straight game with a 68-55 setback against Palm Beach Atlantic University (4-14) on Saturday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
PBA enjoyed a dominant first-half, outscoring the Spartans 40-20 as it also outrebounded Tampa by a 25-13 margin.
After trailing by as many as 30 points in the second half, the Spartans made the game respectable while outscoring its opponent 30-13 over the final 13:55.
Stefon Barfield led Tampa in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 18 points as he was the lone Spartan to collect double figures. Callum Townsend and Jon Riles each grabbed seven rebounds as Riles also led all Spartans with five assists.
UT travels to Melbourne, Fla., on Wednesday to face Florida Tech in its return to Sunshine State Conference play. The Panthers are coming off a win over No. 7 Rollins College on Saturday. The game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Live stats and a webcast will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
