Spartans Win First Conference Game at Home
TAMPA, Fla.- The University of Tampa (6-15, 2-9 SSC) men's basketball team snagged its second straight win 56-55 in Conference play against Barry University (11-11, 5-5 SSC) Saturday evening at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
Despite trailing by two at the half, the Spartans controlled the entire second half leading by at least two points. The Spartans outrebounded the Buccaneers 43-31 and recorded the advantage by six points in the paint.
Ashton Graham scored a game high 24 points, while teammate Osby Kelly added 10 points. Callum Townsend grabbed a game high of 12 rebounds.
The Buccaneers received a great lift from its bench as they gained the advantage 19-4 against the Spartans bench. Barry struggled from the free throw line shooting only 45 percent.
Evan White led the Buccaneers with 14 points, while teammates Justin McCoy and Jermaine Edwards contributed 13 and 12 points apiece.
Tampa will play Saint Leo on the road Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. UT leads the all-time series 52-12 against the Lions.
