Lynn Takes Season Series From Tampa in Road Victory
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (16-7, 3-7 SSC) men's basketball team dropped a 71-61 decision to Lynn University (11-10, 3-8 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference game at the Martinez Center.
Tampa avoided a large halftime deficit as it closed out the first half on an 8-0 run with the Fighting Knights taking a 30-26 advantage to the break. Lynn had led by as many as 12 points in the first half.
Lynn led for the entire second half, though Tampa did cut the Fighting Knight advantage to as low as one point early in the period. Lynn stretched its margin to nine points with 1:20 to play as it connected on 12-of-14 free throws to close the game.
Da'Markco Foster led Tampa with 18 points and nine rebounds as Anthony Griffis chipped in 11 for the Spartans. Jon Riles had a team-high four assists.
Tampa is back at home on Wednesday as it welcomes Eckerd College to the Martinez Center for a 7:30 p.m., contest. Live stats and video will be available through TampaSpartans.tv.
