SSC Names Pat Bacon Offensive Player of the Week
Freshman UT guard earns first career SSC weekly award.
MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa's freshman guard Pat Bacon has been named Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Bacon.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of January 18-24, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
This week, the guard from Indianapolis, Indiana averaged 25.5 points, 6.5, and 5.5 assists per game in the Spartans victories over Nova Southeastern and Palm Beach Atlantic.
In the 86-71 victory over NSU, Bacon scored 24 points as he shot 53.3 percent (8-15) and 54.5 percent (6-11) from three-point range. He also added five rebounds, and six assists. UT also defeated PBA 81-67 this past week. Bacon scored 27 points in the contest, as he shot 61.1 (11-18) from the field. In the contest the guard pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists.
