Spartans Fall to Lynn in Final Game

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's basketball team fell to Lynn University in its final game of the 2019-20 season.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Final: Lynn Fighting Knights 114, Tampa Spartans 80

Records: University of Tampa Spartans (7-21, 4-16 SSC), Lynn Fighting Knights (12-14, 8-12 SSC)

Location: de Hoernle Sports Cultural Center | Boca Raton, Fla.

All-time Series: Lynn holds a 28-21 lead in the all-time series as the SSC opponents split the 2019-20 series with each team winning at home.

How it Happened:

1st Half:

Lynn led for the majority of the opening half, including the final 17:06. The Fighting Knights lead. never reached double digits as the Spartans headed to the half within striking distance. Both teams enjoyed an excellent first half offensively, with Lynn shooting 61.3 percent from the field while the Spartans shot at a 51.7 percent clip. UT was hindered by 10 first half turnovers, compared to just three by the home team. ||  47-38 Lynn

2nd Half:

The Fighting Knights grabbed their first double-digit lead on the first possession of the half, and continued to build on its lead to secure the victory. Lynn connected on 10-of-19 from 3-point range and also outrebounded the Spartans 24-13 in the final 20 minutes.  || 114-80 Lynn

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Senior Pat Bacon concluded an excellent career with the Spartans with 25 points. The guard from Indianapolis scored a total of 1,861 career points, which ranks sixth in program history.
• Gio Diaz turned in a career-high 18 points while freshman Jacob Harris added 11.
• Brent Duncan had a team-leading nine rebounds.
