Spartans to Host Eagles in Weekend Doubleheader
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will both be in action Saturday afterrnoon in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader against the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles.
WOMEN'S:
The Matchup: No. 19 University of Tampa Spartans (20-4, 11-2 SSC) vs. Embry-Riddle (9-9, 7-6 SSC)

Series History: The Spartans hold the advantage with an 8-4 record in the all-time series, with the Spartans winning the last five meetings. Tampa has won six of the last ten against the Eagles.
Last Time Out: Tampa is coming off its second straight victory after a 67-56 win over ranked SSC opponent, Eckerd. With the win, Tampa improves to 9-0 and remains unbeaten on the road. Melijah Sullivan and Aliyah Abney combined for a total 40 points in the upset win. The Spartans forced 14 turnovers in the game and were able to capitalize, scoring 28 points off the Tritons 14 turnovers.
About the Spartans (Women): Entering the game as the No. 19-ranked team in the nation, the Spartans average 68.4 points per game on the season. Aliyah Abney leads all Spartans with 14.0 points per game and is coming off a 21-point performance. The senior also leads the team with 42 steals. Sullivan leads the team with 15 blocks and is second on the team in minutes played.
About the Eagles (Women): Embry-Riddle is coming off a dominant win over SSC foe, Florida Tech. Nikki Tucker, a senior forward for the Eagles, leads the team with 12.3 points per game. The Eagles have seven remaining games in their season, all against conference opponents.
MEN'S:

Series History: Tampa holds the lead in the all-time series, with a 8-6 lead in games dating back to 1991. The Eagles have won two straight over the Spartans, with one of those coming in their previous meeting this season. In the last ten games, each team has won five.
Last Time Out: Tampa comes off of a 77-66 road win at Eckerd improving to 13-5 on the season. Point guard Derrick Felder led the scoring for UT with 19 pints going 6-of-11 from the field and 6-for-9 from the free throw line. Bryan Williams contributed 18 and Jon Bryant II had 14. The team shot 48.1 percent from the field and an impressive 45.5 percent from 3-point range.
About the Spartans (Men): Jones leads all Spartans at 21.8 points per game. Senior Martin Lakovic is the team leader with 8.1 rebounds per game, as he also averaged 10.8 points per contest. Felder holds team honors with 81 assists and 36 steals from his point guard spot as Lakovic has 18 blocked shots. As a team, Tampa is shooting 46.5 percent from 3-point range.
About the Eagles (Men): The Golden Eagles have won their last two games, both at home and come into tonight's game at 17-5 on the season and have won 2-of-3 against ranked opponents. Romeo Crouch leads the Golden Eagles with 20 points per game as well as 113 total assists. Jr. Forward Chris Murry Leads the team with 6.8 rebounds.
