Tampa Golfers Play to Eighth Place Finish at Spartan Invitational
Tampa, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team improved its standing from 10th place after the first two rounds to an eighth place finish at the 2006 Spartan Invitational at Rogers Park in Tampa. With a final score of 913, the Spartans finished 25 strokes behind champion Brevard CC.
Tampa was led by Tom Rourke, who finished in a tie for 11th place with a score of 222. His final round score of 71 was a team best. Garrett Engel and Ryan Barnett also finished in the top-20 as they tied for 17th with a 224. The Tampa lineup also consisted of Jon Michael Socaris (T-80, 243) and Chad Bouchard (91, 251).
Nick Clark, who was entered as an individual finished in a 15th place tie with a score of 223. Clark was Tampa's leader following two rounds with a +3.
The Spartans return to action on October 15-17 as they compete in the North Alabama Invitational in Destin, Fla.
