Spartans Place In Top-10 At Barry Invitational
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team competed in its final regular season event, finishing ninth at the Barry Invitational. The three-round competition was played at Normandy Shores Golf Course.
Host Barry University championed the event, shooting an 854 (+2) to edge The University of West Florida (860) and Nova Southeastern University (862). The Spartans shot a 901 (+49), including its top round of 298 in Tuesday's finale.
Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponents Lynn University (866), Florida Tech (888), Eckerd College (895) and Saint Leo University (915) also competed in the precursor to the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Championships.
Senior Kris Shane was UT's top performer, recording a 220 (+7) to finish in a tie for 24th place. Shane shot respective rounds of 75, 71 and 74.
Kyle Roy (225), Taylor Noel (226), Nicolas Jutigny (230), Brixton Albert (231), Charlie Green (236), Parker Wingfield (237) and Quin Trigg (240) also golfed for the Spartans.
UT returns to play on Monday, April 19 for the two-day SSC Championships. Lynn University will serve as the host as the tournament will be played at the Boca Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
