Kris Shane Finishes NCAA Regional Play As Individual Performer
DELAND, Fla. - University of Tampa men's golfer Kris Shane concluded competition at the 2011 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional, which was played at Victoria Hills Golf Club. The three-day event consisted of three rounds, which concluded on Wednesday.
Shane opened play with a 79 in Monday's opening round. He followed with scores of 75 and 78 to finish at 232 (+16). He finished 82nd overall in the field of 108 golfers.
Lynn University's Ricardo Gouveia won the individual championship after shooting a 212, or -4. Lynn also won the team competition as Barry, Barton, Columbus State and Newberry also advance to the NCAA II Championships. Two individuals, Grant Goforth (Delta State) and Jake Murphy (Coker) will also advance.
Shane concludes his senior season with an average of 75.9 in 33 rounds of play. The Ruskin, Fla., native had a low round of 69 and finished in the top five once, top 10 twice and top-15 on three occasions.
