Spartans Play to 13th Place Finish at UNA Invite
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished 13th at the University of Tampa Spring Classic, a three-round event played at the Robert Trent Jones Fighting Joe.
After shooting rounds of 307 and 300 on Monday, head coach Rick Christie's group closed play with a 326 to finish at 933. Host North Alabama won the event, followed by Wilmington, Huntingdon, Midwestern State and Northern Kentucky.
Taylor Noel was the top Spartan, finishing in a tie for 17th-place. The junior from Crown Point, Ind., carded a 222 including his best round of the tourney with a 72 on the first day.
Jeff Baulet (238), Steven Embree (241), Josh Detmer (243) and Parker Wingfield (245) also competed in the UT lineup.
The Spartans have one tune-up remaining before the 2012 Sunshine State Conference Championships, as it will play at the Barry Invitational on April 2-3.
