Spartans Turn in Top-Five Performance Among Division I Competition
HOWEY IN THE HILLS, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team placed fifth-place finish at the St. John's Invitational among 10 competing teams.
The Spartans shot a 303 in the second and third rounds to finish at 914. Johnson & Wales won the team championship as the Spartans finished ahead of NCAA Division I opponents Alabama State, Stetson, Savannah State and Florida A&M.
Senior Taylor Noel turned in his best performance of the season with a top-10 showing. He finished ninth while shooting a 225. After opening play with a 76, he fired a 75 and 74 in the final two rounds respectively.
Jason Steele (226) finished 12th overall as Helder Alves (233), Myles Wharram (233), Steven Embree (235) and Ricardo Garcia (248) also competed for the Spartans.
UT returns to action at the Rollins Invitational on Oct. 29-30, which will be the final fall competition.
