Taylor Noel Selected to Compete in NCAA Golf Championship
INDIANAPOLIS - University of Tampa men's golfer Taylor Noel has earned an individual selection to the 2013 NCAA Men's Golf South Regional.
Noel is one of four individuals who were chosen to compete, as a total of 10 teams from the South Region were also announced. The regional is scheduled for May 6-8 at the Mission Inn Resort and Country Club, which is located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Both the South and Southeast regions will compete, with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 20-24 in Hershey Pa.
The Sunshine State Conference dominated the South Region field, accounting for seven of the 10 team selections. The SSC also occupies the top four spots. Barry and West Florida each received automatic bids as the champions of the SSC and Gulf South Conference.
Noel, a senior from Crown Point, Ind., is a four year letterwinner who is averaging 75.2 per round. He has finished in the top-five on two occasions this season, also placing in the top-10 a total of four times and the top-15 five times.
His top round during the 2012-13 season came at the Brevard Invitational, where he carded a 68 in the second round of the tournament that he won. He also placed second at the Florida Tech Invitational and most recently finished 15th at the SSC Championships.
