Spartans Register 12th-Place Finish at Saint Leo
DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team played at the Saint Leo Invitational, and finished 12th in a tournament that featured seven Sunshine State Conference opponents.
Tampa clubbed rounds of 298, 293 and 303 to finish with an 894 (+30). SSC opponent Barry University won with an 836 as four of the top-five3 hailed from the SSC.
Seniors Zach Schuster and Jason Steele each shot a three-round total of 224 (+8) to finish in a 63rd-place tie. Steele's second-round 69 also marked the top round for all Spartans.
Also golfing for the Spartans were Justin Elwell (225), Dan Syring (230), Bobby Ray (234) and Gray Barnes (238).
Tampa will travel to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for the Nova Southeastern Invitational on October 12-13. The tournament will be played at the PGA National Golf Course.
