Lucas Cena Paces Team to Third Place Finish
INNISBROOK, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's golf team played to a third-place finish at the Copperhead Championship.

- Aadam Syed | 10th overall, 215 (+2)

OTHER NOTABLES:
- In his second event as a Spartan, Cena led UT with a top-10 finish.
- Syed made it two Spartans in the top 10.
- Cena's second round 69 was the top Spartan round.
- A total of 13 teams competed.
- Head coach Gary Hilton also entered three individuals.
- Derek Sanderson shot a 221 (T-30th) while Alex Mercier carded a 224 (T-45th) and Porter Brackett a 227 (T-56th).
- West Florida's Felipe Garces Garzon, ranked the No. 18 player in the nation, and Colorado State-Pueblo's Matt Millar (No. 30) finished in a first-place tie with a 207 (-6).
- Joining the Spartans from the Sunshine State Conference were Saint Leo (4), Nova Southeastern (6), and Lynn (12).
- UT is ranked No. 43 in the nation, and finished ahead of seven nationally-ranked teams, including No. 8 Colorado State-Pueblo and No. 15 North Georgia.
- Several nationally-ranked players competed, including Tampa's Cena (No. 99) and Marshall (No. 100).
UP NEXT:
Tampa will now focus on the Citrus Intercollegiate, which is scheduled for October 31 to November 1 at Champions Gate Golf Club National Course in Davenport, Fla.
