Tampa Set to Host Deep South Conference Semifinals Against Florida Southern
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa lacrosse team is set to host conference rival Florida Southern College in the school's first ever Deep South Conference post-season game Thursday at 7 p.m.
Tampa finished the season 7-1 in conference and 11-4 overall, earning a share of the DSC regular season title with No. 10 Mars Hill. UT was awarded a bye in the first round of the conference tournament as well.
Florida Southern went 6-2 in conference and 8-5 overall. The Moccasins finished tied for second in the conference with Catawba College, and received the number two seed in the South region.
FSC defeated Saint Leo Tuesday night in overtime by a score of 9-8 to advance to the semifinals.
Junior captain Greg Griffo leads the Spartans in points with 29 (13 goals, 16 assists) with junior attack man A.J. DeSimone in second with 28 (25 goals, 3 assists).
Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $5 (adults) and $3 (senior citizens and students). UT students and faculty/staff are admitted free with a valid Spartan ID.
