No. 3 Tampa Scheduled To Battle Adams State Grizzlies
The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team welcomes in the Adams State University Grizzlies for an Easter Weekend contest at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex.
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 3 University of Tampa men's lacrosse team will play host to the Grizzlies of Adams State University, Friday night, at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex.
The Spartans enter the contest sporting a record of 7-1 and fresh off 15-10 a road victory over SSC foe Lynn University and currently riding a four-game win streak.
The UT attack is balanced as six different players have tallied five or more goals this season. Freshman Andrew Kew leads the way with his team-leading 29 goals. Conor Whipple serves as the true catalyst for the offense with his 27 goals and team-leading 19 assists. Providing additional firepower to a potent Spartan attack that averages 13.25 goals per game; is Jake Schmidt, Mike Morris and Matt Bilak with 14, nine and eight goals apiece.
Defensively, Tampa's group is as talented as they come, featuring a mix of youth and experience. The defensive unit features upperclassmen Marty Heyn, Charlie Cummins and Ryan Vella as well as underclassmen like Luke Posner, Nick Balzano, and A.J. Ferraro. Together as a group, they've forced 38 caused turnovers and scooped up 79 groundballs.
The Spartans' transition game is second to none as they lead the country clearing at 93.7 clip on the season.
The Grizzlies comes into the showdown with a record of 1-4 and recently dropped a road contest to Saint Leo University 13-6.
Some key names to be on the lookout on the offensive end for on the Adam's State roster are midfielder Seth Stowell and attacker Reece Sullivan, who've netted eight and five goals apiece thus far in the campaign.
Defensively, Richard Morrison, Garrett Chitwood, and Alex Prather set the tone combining for 11 caused turnovers and 16 ground balls on the season.
UT leads the series all-time with a record of 2-0 against ASU, with the last victory coming in 2015, by a score of 15-3.
