Spartans Subdue Panthers in Top-10 Battle
BALTIMORE, MD. – The fourth-ranked University of Tampa Spartans traveled up to the Northeast to take on the ninth-ranked Adelphi University Panthers in a Wednesday afternoon showdown on the campus of Johns Hopkins University. The Tampa offense was able to jump on the Panthers early to claim their fifth victory of the season.

How It Happened:
First Quarter|| UT got out to a hot start in the neutral site game as Bryan Wright, Owen Miller, Stephano Mastro, and Jake Mosher McGraw gave the Spartans a 4-0 advantage three minutes into the game. The Panthers were able to get on the board with 9:36 left in the first quarter as Nicolas Racalbuto scored an unassisted goal. The Spartans would close out the quarter with goals from Miller and Luke McAnaney. || 6-1 Tampa
Second Quarter || The two defenses were tough throughout the second quarter as each team was able to limit their opponent to just one goal. Wright would score the goal for the Spartans as he scored off a pass from Cole Witman. || 7-2 Tampa
Third Quarter || Tampa was able to pounce on the Panthers to open up the second half as Jack Wood and Mosher McGraw would each score goals less than two minutes into the half. Following the two early goals, Adelphi was able to settle in defensively as they would not allow any goals for the remainder of the quarter while adding two goals of their own. || 9-4 Tampa
Fourth Quarter || In the final frame the Tampa offense was able to put a dagger in any hopes Adelphi had for a comeback. UT would score the first three goals of the final 15 minutes to gain their biggest lead of the game at 12-4. AU was able to add two goals in the final third of the quarter but it was not enough as the Spartans would claim their third victory over a ranked team this season. || 13-6 Tampa
Inside the Stats:
- Bryan Wright and Owen Miller would each record hat tricks in the victory.
- Jack Wood and Jake Mosher McGraw would each add two goals, as Mosher McGraw would also add two assists in the win.
- Wood would cause a team-high two turnovers
- Ross Dickerson picked up 12 groundballs on the day, as he had another fantastic day in the faceoff circle, winning 14 of 16 attempts.
- Alexander Starr excelled in the cage, as he was able to collect nine save.
- The six goals tied the lowest scoring output Adelphi has been held to since the 2017 season.
Up Next: Tampa will be back at home this Saturday as they are set to host the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
