USILA Team of the Week Announced, Milani Selected for First Time this Season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Andrew Milani selected to USILA/Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week.
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2024 Division II Blatant Lacrosse Team of the Week accolades on Wednesday, April 17. Players earned recognition from the organization as they each posted exceptional performances in their programs games this past week.
The list of honorees is as follows:
1. Ryan Kemp, Attack, Pace.
Two games, eight goals, three assists, 11 points, four ground balls, and one caused turnover. Kemp tallied 11 points off eight goals and 3 assists in a 2-0 week for the No. 10 Setters. Kemp led the way against Assumption, posting five goals for the second time this season while handing out three assists and causing one turnover. Against the Purple Knights, Kemp posted a hat trick with three goals to go alongside three ground balls. Kemp earned NE10 Player of the Week honors
2. Jack Kern, Goalie, Pace.
Two games, four ground balls, 33 saves (61.1). 21 goals allowed. Kemp tallied 11 points off eight goals and 3 assists in a 2-0 week for the No. 10 Setters. Kemp led the way against Assumption, posting five goals for the second time this season while handing out three assists and causing one turnover. Against the Purple Knights, Kemp posted a hat trick with three goals to go alongside three ground balls. Kemp earned NE10 Player of the Week honors.
3. Tim Ladner, FOGO, Limestone.
One goal, 13 ground balls, .656 face-off percentage. Ladner collected 21-of-32 faceoff wins in the Saints 17-14 win at No. 7 Wingate. He was also able to corral a game-high 13 groundballs and added one score.
4. Michael Flores, FOGO, Saint Leo.
One goal, one assist, two points, 21 ground balls, .612 faceoff percentage (30-49). Flores was a big part of the reason the Lions split the week as he was 30-49 at the faceoff X. In the Lions 13-12 win at RV Embry-Riddle, he won 21 of 26 faceoffs and picked up 16 ground balls and his goal late in the first half ignited a 5-0 that turned the game around for the Lions giving them a lead they never relinquished.
5. Eoghan Sweeney, FOGO, Saint Rose.
Two games, one goal, 26 ground balls, .906 faceoff percentage (39-43). Eoghan dominated at the FO x this week taking 43 draws and only losing 4 total FO between two games while collecting 26 GBs and a goal! Helping Saint Rose go 2-0.
6. Carson Bradshaw, Midfield, Rockhurst.
One game, eight ground balls, 16-18 faceoff (.889). Bradshaw led Rockhurst with 16-of-18 FO wins (.889) and 8 GBs in 9-6 win over Davenport.
7. James Napoli, Midfield, Bridgeport.
Two games, eight goals, eight assists, 16 points, two ground balls, three caused turnovers. Napoli posted two dominant performances during UB's 2-0 stretch last week. The Long Island native piled up 16 points off eight goals and eight assists. He also recorded three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
8. Riah Rathe, Goalie, Lewis.
Two games, seven ground balls, one caused turnover. 70.8 save percentage, 17 saves, 7 goals allowed. Rathe only allowed 1 goal with 6 saves in 30 minutes against Davenport along with 2 groundballs. He followed up this performance with 11 saves allowing 6 GA with 5 groundballs and a caused turnover against William Jewell.
9. Matthew Boas, Attack, Montevallo.
One game, five goals, one assist, six points, one ground ball. Matthew led all scorers with 5,1 for 6 points for Montevallo as they clinched at least a share of the PBC Regular Season Title and the #1 seed in the PBC Tournament as the Falcons defeated in-state rival Alabama Huntsville 15-8
10. Andrew Milani, Attack, Tampa.
Two games, 12 goals, one assist, 13 points, six ground balls, one caused turnover. Milani grabbed SSC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in 2024 after leading Tampa in victories over Saint Leo (16-7) and No. 13 Seton Hill (14-8). At Saint Leo, the Catonsville, Maryland native tallied game highs in points (8) and goals (7). He also scooped six ground balls and caused a turnover. The graduate student followed with five goals in the Top-15 matchup against Seton Hill at a neutral site. His 12 goals last week came on 23 total shots and 20 shots on goal for a .870 shot-on-goal percentage.
