Former UT Soccer Star Roy Fink Named to Colorado Rapids U-23 Coaching Staff
BOULDER, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids U23 announced the hiring of former UT men's soccer standout Roy Fink to its staff. Fink returns to the club where he took part in the building of the organization when he first played with the Rapids U23, formerly the Boulder Rapids Reserve, in the summers of 2002 and 2003.
In 2002, Fink was a member of the team that lost in the National PDL Championship game to the Cape Cod Crusaders, 2-1 in double overtime.
Fink will be a part of the coaching staff and work with the goal-keepers. As part of his experience, Fink will resume his coaching education and participate in the USSF "C" coaching class, NSCAA National Coaching class, and two Goalkeeping certifications.
"I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity to come back to Colorado and work with such a brilliant soccer person such as Peter Ambrose," said Fink. "I thank all the Rapids U-23 staff for giving me this opportunity to learn and experience coaching soccer at such a high level."
Head Coach Peter Ambrose states, "I am thrilled to have Roy back with us a coach. He has so many talents to offer these young players both on and off the field. He is a true professional and will now bring those special qualities to the Rapids U-23 players."
Fink, a native of Israel, played soccer college at The University of Tampa. He was a four-year Sunshine State All-Conference team selection, and a four year All-South Region selection. Fink was named 3rd team All-America in 2000 and 1st team All-America in 2001. Fink was also elected the NSCAA player of the year in 2001; the same year he helped his school to win the Division II National championship during an undefeated season.
Previous to playing in the USA, Fink played for six years in the Israeli Premier-Ship and Division one teams of Bney-Yehuda Tel-Aviv and Hakoach Ramat-Gun. He also took part of the Israeli Junior U16 and Youth U18 National Teams.
Currently Fink resides in Tampa, Florida where he takes role as the Assistant Director of coaching for the nationally recognized soccer club, Strictly Soccer Futbol Club, St. Petersburg. He will be in Colorado for the summer season with the Rapids U-23.
