MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The University of Tampa (9-2-1, 3-2 SSC) men's soccer team got a bit of a scare after leading Barry University (9-3, 2-3) by a score of 2-0, but pulled out a 3-2 double overtime victory to win a critical Sunshine State Conference match.
Tampa was the beneficiary from an own goal at 14:04, which was the lone goal of the first half. Things looked good for UT when Ryan Maxwell scored unassisted at 62:52 after stealing a ball in the middle of the field.
With just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest, Barry quickly tied the match when it scored twice in less than a minute span. Nuk Kojic scored both goals, at 79:55 and 80:22 respectively for the Buccaneers.
Following a scoreless first overtime, Jordan-Peter Moses tallied his first collegiate goal with just over three minutes to go in the final overtime period. Maxwell received the assist as Moses knocked home a rebound.
Both goalkeepers were extremely busy as Tampa had 31 shots and Barry 28. Shots on goal were 18-14 in favor of the Bucs.
UT goalkeeper Ryan Thompson finished with a career high 15 saves for Tampa while playing 106:55 minutes.
