TAMPA, Fla. - The 14th-ranked University of Tampa (12-2-1) men's soccer team won its sixth straight match while registering its ninth shutout of the season in a 8-0 win over visiting Johnson & Wales University (1-9-1).
The six consecutive wins marks the longest streak since the national championship season of 2001. In that season, Tampa won its final 11 games.
The Spartans scored their first goal of the night at the 10:23 mark when Pascal Milien tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Just over three minutes later, Milien found teammate Jordan-Peter Moses for the second goal of the evening.
Tampa scored its third goal of the first half when a Lister Warren shot sailed past the goalkeeper to give UT a 3-0 advantage. Warren's goal was unassisted.
In the second half, the Spartans added goals from Moses, Greg Sasser, Mike Bethel, Hamza El Haouati and Jorge Jimenez. Bethel, Sasser, Tom Layrisse, Jimenez were all credited with assists.
Moses was the lone Spartan to score multiple goals as he registered two along with an assist.. Jimenez, Milien, Moses, Bethel and Sasser each recorded a goal and assist in the contest.
Ryan Thompson started in goal for Tampa, playing the entire first half where he made one save. Clete Goddard and Marcelo Rubio shared duties in the second half, as neither faced a shot.
Tampa is back in action on Friday when it travels to Lakeland to meet Florida Southern College in a Sunshine State Conference matchup.
