Ryan Maxwell Invited to MLS Player Combine
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Former University of Tampa men's soccer player Ryan Maxwell has earned an invitation to participate in the 2009 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, January 9-13, 2009.
This event provides MLS coaches an opportunity to evaluate the player's talent before the MLS Super Draft, which will be held January 15 in St. Louis, Mo. During the 2009 Combine, each player will play three games over a four-day period.
Maxwell, a midfielder from Clarendon, Jamaica, recently completed his final season with UT. He led UT to an 18-4-1 record and a berth in the NCAA national semifinals. He was named first-team all-Sunshine State Conference while also being a Daktronics second-team All-American. He was second on the team with 10 goals, five assists and 25 points while scoring three game-winning goals for Tampa.
A transfer from San Jacinto (Tex.) College, Maxwell played three years for Tampa, from 2006-08. In 53 career games as a Spartan, Maxwell totaled 16 goals, 13 assists and 45 points. He also registered six game-winning goals as a Spartan.
