TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (1-1) men's soccer team defeated Spring Hill College (0-1) by a score of 1-0.
"I am happy for our players, they deserve this result," says head coach Adrian Bush. "Our focus now is Clayton State."
The Spartans battled through a scoreless after being outshot by a slim 5-4 margin. Both teams were held to one shot on goal each.
Keith Francisco connected for UT in the 54th minute on a cross from Dominick Mondesir to take a 1-0 lead.
The Tampa defense held strong in the second half as goalkeeper Zak Downes only faced two shots on goal in the match while saving both.
Nikolai Hammer led all Spartans with four shots in the match. Mike Ciluffo also contributed with two shots in the shutout.
Tampa outshot Spring Hill 15-9 while also taking the advantage in shots on goal 4-2. UT also edged SHC in corner kicks 9-5 in the match.
