The University of Tampa Spartans (3-1-1) defeated the West Florida Argonauts (1-3) at Pepin Stadium Friday night by a final score of 2-0. With the victory head coach Adrian Bush collects his 99th win at Tampa.
With eight shots on goal in the first half Tampa managed to connect on two goals by junior Chris Campbell in the 18th minute and freshman Monty Berrow in the 41st minute.
Seniors Andrew Clare, Craig Laird, and Junior Nikolai Hammer assisted the Spartans on their first-half goals.
The Tampa defense held the Argonauts scoreless for 90 minutes despite the challenging inclement weather.
Freshmen goalkeeper Zak Downes recorded his third clean sheet of the season with seven saves on the night.
The Spartans will take the pitch again Sunday at noon, when they host the No. 21 University of West Alabama Tigers as Bush will look to earn his 100th victory. Live stats and a video webcast will be available through www.tampaspartans.tv.
