FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The University of Tampa (9-6-2) men's soccer team closed out its 2014 season with a 2-0 victory over regional opponent Nova Southeastern (6-8-1) on Saturday night.
Nikolai Hammer put the Spartans on the board in the first half in the 24th minute. Chris Campbell was credited with the assist on the goal.
Tampa held Nova scoreless for the remainder of the half outshooting the Sharks 8-7 while holding a 4-1 advantage on goal.
UT added an insurance goal in the second half drawing a penalty kick that Andrew Clare converted for a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Spartans finished the match with nine shots on goal as keeper Zak Downes saved all three attempts by the Sharks.
Craig Laird and Keith Francisco led Tampa with two shots on goal each. Alex Knaggs and Campbell also contributed to the offense with two shots apiece.
