Pair of Spartans Continue Professional Success
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa alums and former men's soccer standouts Ryan Thompson and Pascal Millien continue to find success at the professional and international levels.
Thompson, a Spartan goalkeeper from 2006-09, just played in the Copa America in Chile, representing his home country of Jamaica.
Millien, a forward for UT from 2007-09, is playing for Haiti's men's national team. He also joins Thompson in professional ranks in the United States.
Thompson, who has played at the pro level since 2010, is currently with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies (2014), AFC United (2012), the Shamrock Rovers (2011) and the MPS Portland Phoenix (2010).
Thompson was a part of the Jamaica under-20 squad from 2002-05. He traveled internationally to Europe, Central America and the Caribbean for youth national teams. He made his full international debut on November 26, 2004, in a 2005 Caribbean Cup qualifier in an 11-1 victory over the US Virgin Islands.
Thompson was called up in 2014 as part of the squad for the 2014 Caribbean Cup and multiple friendlies. He was then recalled by Jamaica in March 2015 for friendlies against Cuba and Venezuela. Thompson went on to earn his third cap in a match versus Cuba and posted the shutout in the 3−0 victory.
Millien has been in the professional ranks since 2009 and currently represents the Jacksonville Armada of the NASL. He has also played for Fidelis Andria (2014), Sheikh Russel KC (2014), the Sligo Rovers (2012-13) and FC Tampa Bay (2010-11).
He also made his debut for the Haitian national squad in 2006 at the age of 20. During his college years, Millien also played extensively in the USL Premier Development League, appearing for the Ajax Orlando Prospects, Bradenton Academics, Atlanta Silverbacks U23's and the Chicago Fire Premier.
