TAMPA. Fla. - The University of Tampa men's soccer program extended its winning streak to four games Wednesday night, this time facing off against the Rollins College Tars at Pepin Stadium. UT came out with the win by a score of 1-0.
The Spartans and Tars would spend most of the first 45' gridlocked in an intense defensive battle, which ultimately led to both sides going into the half even at nil-nil.
The Second half of action started out much similar to the ending of the first with both sides trying to take advantage of any opening given. Finally at the 48-minute Tampa burst through with the eventual game-winner off the foot of Fredinho Mompremier to catapult his team into the lead. Mompremier would push a ball past the RC keeper about 15 yards out going far post.
Stepping up big the Spartans defensively was Christian Knight, who registered back to back shutouts both coming against Sunshine State Conference opponents.
Tampa hits the road for their next match taking on Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday. The game is slated to started at 7:00 p.m., live stats and broadcast will be available for fans to follow the action.
