Tampa Continues as No. 7 Team in NSCAA Rankings
After going 1-0-1 last week, the Spartans held steady at the No. 7 spot in the Top 25
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After extending its unbeaten start to the season with their victory over Florida Southern and their draw against Embry-Riddle, the Spartans have held their ranking at No. 7 in the Top 25 as released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America today. This places UT as the highest ranked Sunshine State Conference team for this week's rankings.
The team had a pair of matches last week as they hosted Florida Southern midweek for a conference match that the Spartans won 2-1. Scoring for UT were Fredinho Mompremier and Lewis Sugden. On Saturday, the team traveled to Daytona Beach to take on Embry-Riddle in a regional match. The Eagles scored the first two goals of the game but Tampa was able to fight back and got a goal from Chris Dusabe to draw the team within one before Mompremier tied it up with 10 minutes to go in regulation. Neither side was able to score a winner in overtime as the match finished in a 2-2 tie.
Teams that are also ranked that are on the schedule for the Spartans this season include Barry University (11th), Lynn University (15th) and Palm Beach Atlantic (25th).
This week, the team has a pair of matches as they host Lynn University tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. and will host Flagler College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
